How does eSIM work?
eSIM works pretty much like a regular SIM but the cool thing about eSIM is that you can switch your wireless carrier without swapping the SIM card. With eSIM, it is just a few taps in the settings that can switch you from one wireless carrier to another.
Why should I care about eSIM?
You can save a lot of money on data roaming charges when you travel. Instead of buying expensive data roaming from your wireless carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc.) or getting a SIM card from a wireless carrier in the country you are visiting and going through the hassle of swapping the SIM card and losing the ability to be reachable on your US phone number, you can use an eSIM. Without swapping the SIM card, you get the cheapest data roaming rates and you get to keep your US number.
How do I know that my phone has eSIM?
On iPhone, go to “Settings” and tap “Cellular” if you see “Add Cellular Plan” your phone has eSIM. If you don’t see “Add Cellular Plan” then you don’t.
On Android, go to “Settings” and tap on “Network and Internet”. If you see a + sign to the right of “Mobile Network” your phone has eSIM. If you don’t see a + sign you don’t have an eSIM.
